Today we are proud to join millions of Canadians across the country by participating in Bell Let’s Talk Day.
This initiative reflects our commitment to health, safety and wellness at work and throughout our communities. We have a long history of support for organizations that focus on mental health care. Earlier this year, we presented Peel Children’s Centre with a cheque for $23,500 – raised through our charity golf tournament – to support mental health services for children and youth in the Region of Peel.
Previously, Alectra Utilities committed a donation to support the construction of the Pathstone Children’s Mental Health Centre, a new state-of-the-art mental health treatment facility in St. Catharines that will provide professional intervention to children and their families from the Niagara region living with mental health issues.
We recognize that mental illness affects people of all ages, from all walks of life. It can take many forms including depression, anxiety and schizophrenia. Most individuals find ways to live with their illnesses, but how they are treated by others often proves to be more of a challenge than the illness itself.
Alectra offers all employees internal wellness programs and employee and family assistance services. Alectra’s wellness programming is focused on providing basic education and raising awareness about mental illness, better equipping employees to recognize symptoms, and seek early diagnosis and treatment. Alectra’s offerings of education and supports enables employees to better understand mental illness promoting early diagnosis and medical intervention.
